Linking to files in a parent directory

In the previous page, you saw how to link to this page which is in a subdirectory. You can reverse the process using a relative link back to the parent directory.

As with the notation on most computers, the double dot refers to the parent directory. You can recurse back a number of parent directories, if they are so nested. Always note the forward slash which directs the browser to the file "004.htm".
