Traditional Rhyme Characters

The 206 rimes of the GuangYun rimebook is represented below. It was later condensed down to 107 rimes, and further reduced to 106 rimes, as most of the distinctions had, by that time more or less, disappeared. Much later, Chinese philologists then reduced the whole set of rhymes into only 16 representative characters. The IPA pronunciations are reconstructions of the sounds which the GuangYun table is able to differentiate.
